"Disconnected kids", a book by robert Mellilo

About the blog:

The purpose of this blog is to act as a both a coordinating point and resource for those people who are interested in understanding or applying the principles discussed in "Disconnected Kids", by Robert Mellilo. He describes an approach known as "functional neurology" applied to children with various learning, attention and other neurological deficits. This book is written for the lay-person and is a simple, non-invasive and drug-free approach to altering brain function.

About me:

I am a chiropractor with a broad range of interests. I currently live in Townsville, Australia. I have been studying neurology since I started my chiropractic degree in 2003, in the form of text books, pop-neuro and journal articles that cover a range of neurology and other related disciplines. I like to tutor students in neurology, and do so occasionally at JCU Townsville, or privately. I am currently enrolled in Prof Ted Carrick's functional neurology diplomate course, which i am slowly and carefully making my way through! Ted Carrick is a brilliant man who developed this functional neuro approach. He travels the world waking people up from comas and treating various movement disorders. His fascinating work forms the basis of the approach that Robert Mellilo uses in this book. Disconnected Kids (DC) is a direct result of the application of this approach in children with various neurological dysfunction.

About the group:

There is a group of interested parents, teachers, health professionals, academics and clinicians who are interested in understanding and applying this approach to themselves, their children and their patients! This group exists to serve them.
